On March 11, 1952, during the Gour Purnima festival, Bhakti Jivan Janardan Goswami Maharaj took sannyas from Bhakti Gaurav Vaikhanas Goswami Maharaj. The ceremony occurred at a temple and deity installation festival in Kaukhata, a small village 7 kilometers from Brahmapur city in Ganjam District, Odisha, India. Sri Radha Krishna and Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu were installed as deities. Bhakti Pramod Puri Goswami Maharaj and other Vaishnavas were present. The temple was built by a householder disciple of Bhakti Gaurav Vaikhanas Goswami Maharaj, and their family continues to maintain it.
